Why is it beneficial to go to college?

I start school this summer full-time for a bachelor's in business and marketing. In today's economy I keep reading that even the educated people are still only getting jobs at starbucks or selling furniture. So why is going to school going to benefit me and will it give me any edge in today's economy? Thanks for your help.
